溫莎位於倫敦西南30公里，離希思路機場僅15分鐘的車程。古色古香的溫莎鎮與溫莎城堡對比就顯得渺小，因為當年建鎮就是為城堡的皇室服務。鎮上有許多喬治王時期風格的商店、房子和客棧，甚至還有建於1689年的鎮公所。溫莎大公園占地2千英畝，從城堡一直延伸至雪丘。

溫莎堡目前是英女皇和家人的主要居所（其辦公和會見各國政要則在白金漢宮），同時也是英國最古老的一直有人居住的皇家宅第。原建於1070年，1992年一場大火燒毀了聖佐治廳（已經修整好並重新開放）。

雄偉的溫莎堡內裡有許多珍藏，國家套房（聖佐治廳）有國王的寢宮，房間有許多珍寶；瑪麗皇后玩偶屋是必看之處，內有許多珍品和藝術品；聖佐治禮拜堂是美侖美奐的歌德式建築；圓塔是木石結構，有皇室的文獻和攝影收藏；愛爾伯特紀念禮拜堂初建於1240年，金碧輝煌；皇室收藏室有許多不同的展覽，其珍品常常出借給其他博物館；偈見廳是女皇會見賓客之處；滑鐵盧廳奢華宏美，牆上掛滿了當年參與滑鐵盧戰役的主將畫像；每天的早上11時，還有衛兵換崗儀式。

與溫莎堡對河相望的，是伊頓公學，英國最著名的貴族學校，最初只為皇室和貴族子弟而設。這裡的學生不但成績優異，學校也注重培養學生的各種技能，因此大多數的學生都能夠考進劍橋或牛津，該學校曾經培育出20多位首相和政界精英。

雖然溫莎堡的門票一直都昂貴，每年三月升價一次（2016年入場費是20英鎊)，開放時間有限制（一般是早上10:00到下午16:00，15:30之後禁止入場，皇室如有慶典或政事就不對外開放），但遊客還是絡繹不絕。目前城堡提供免費的導遊講解機服務，有各種主要語言（包括中文）。

溫莎內還有衛兵換崗，規模雖不及白金漢宮的雄壯，但也是很著名的，參考時間如下：通常在早上11時開始，視天氣而定，周日沒有換崗，7月通常每天換崗，7月份雙數日子（2-4-6），9月份是單數日子（1-3-5）。

Windsor and Windsor Castle

The town of Windsor is located in the south-west of London(30 kilometres), close to Heathrow Airport(by care 15 minutes). The town was originally built to serve the Castle’s needs, that explains why the town is dwarfted by the grand Windsor Castle.

Tourist will find quaint Georgian shops, houses and inns, and even a Guildhall completed in 1689. The Windsor Great Park covers an area of 2000 acre and stretches 5 kilometres from the Castle to Snow Hill.

Windsor Castle is the primary residence of the Queen and her family. At the moment the Castle is the oldest continuously inhabited royal residence in Britain. Built in 1070, the Castle was damaged partly in 1992 where a devastating blaze destroyed the State Apartment of St. George’s Hall.

Nowadays mobile audio guide in different languages are provided free for tourists. Opposite to the Castle at the river bank is the Eton College, which is the most famous public school. Apart from the grand architect, there are several must-see places: Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, St. George’s Chapel, Round Tower, State Apartment, Albert Memorial Chapel, Royal Collection, Audience Chamber, Waterloo Chamber, and the Changing Guard(11:00 daily).
